Before buying a caravan water pump, look at the pump already in the van if you can. The label, wiring, hose fittings and filter tell you more than the outside shape of the pump. If there is no old pump to copy, choose from the water system: how many outlets it feeds, whether it runs from 12V or 24V, and whether you need an automatic pressure pump or a simple manual pump.

A typical caravan pressure pump is often around 11 to 12 LPM with a pressure rating around 35 to 45 PSI. Check the old pump and the outlet demand before going bigger.
A pump filter or strainer helps keep debris out of the pump head. If the pump runs but will not prime, splutters or has poor pressure, check the tank water level, inlet filter, hose connections and voltage before replacing the pump. An accumulator can smooth water flow and reduce rapid cycling in suitable systems, especially when the pump output is higher than the water being used at the tap. If you are fixing an existing pump, use the model number before ordering pressure switches, valve kits, diaphragm kits, upper housings or fittings. Shurflo parts and Flojet and Whale parts can look similar across models, but they are not automatically interchangeable.
