The SHURflo Waterguard filtration kit is a complete under-bench water filtration solution designed for caravan and marine applications. It connects directly into the cold-water line to provide clean, filtered drinking water through a dedicated bench-mounted tap. This setup allows users to maintain a separate supply of drinking water without affecting the main tap, making it a practical addition for caravans where water quality can vary.
The system is designed for straightforward installation, connecting to a 12 mm push-in pipe system using the included fittings. The filter bracket mounts vertically inside a cupboard, keeping the installation discreet while remaining accessible for maintenance. The supplied 1.5 metres of 1/4-inch tubing is cut to make both connections: from the cold-water supply tee to the filter, and from the filter to the supplied spout. The spout is typically installed alongside the main tap on the benchtop.
The carbon block filter cartridge provides effective filtration down to 0.5 micron, reducing chlorine taste, odours, and sediment to improve the overall quality of drinking water. It has a rated capacity of 1890 litres and is easy to change thanks to its twist-out design. Replace the cartridge every 6-12 months or when its capacity is reached, whichever comes first; changes in water taste, odour, colour or flow can indicate earlier replacement is needed.
Run water through the filter for 2-3 minutes after installation and after prolonged periods without use. Water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality requires adequate disinfection before or after filtration; this kit is not a substitute for that treatment.
