Description

The Trail-A-Mate hydraulic jockey wheel / jack has been specifically designed for use with caravans, trailers and horse-floats. The clever design quickly and easily converts from a jockey wheel to hydraulic jack by simply swapping the wheel to the included solid baseplate.

The Trail-A-Mate has a lifting capacity of 1000kg making it suitable for jacking caravans or trailers up to 2900kg ATM. It suits standard 50mm clamps making it a straight swap for your existing jockey wheel and has 4 positions for the clamp on the 500mm outer shaft - plus the lift height of 380mm.

For side jacking, the lifting clamp engages with a Trail-A-Mate engagement fitting on the caravan or trailer; it is not a general-purpose saddle for lifting directly against the chassis. Where fittings are not already installed, the supplied engagement brackets are welded beneath the cross-member behind the axle, flush with the outside wall of the caravan. Some older caravans need this cross-member strengthened to accommodate the fitting.

Instructions

Instructions for safe use for caravan/trailer jacks:

• The jack should be used on level firm ground wherever possible.
• It is recommended that the wheels of the caravan/trailer be chocked.
• No person should remain in a caravan/trailer supported by a jack.
• No person should place any portion of his or her body under a caravan/trailer supported by a jack.
• The caravan/trailer should be attached to the towing vehicle.
• Remove the wheel and fit the solid baseplate before using it as a jack. The baseplate must be fitted for the 1000kg working load limit.
• Use the jack for lifting and lowering only; support the raised caravan or trailer on vehicle support stands.
• Remove the Trail-A-Mate from the caravan or trailer before travelling.

If trapped air after transport causes poor or no lifting, open the release valve and air vent valve anticlockwise, then pump the handle several times. Retighten the air vent valve without overtightening its O-ring and close the release valve, as described in the supplied manual.

It has 4 positions for you to clamp to on the mast. With the wheel on, from the bottom of the wheel to the first notch is 280mm, then 370mm, 460mm, to 550mm on the top notch. It can then be jacked up an additional 380mm between the bottom notch and the bottom of the wheel.
