The Born To Roam 2kW Diesel Heater is a new generation model commissioned specifically for Jayco, built by AUFocus using the same trusted core components as the popular AUFocus 2kW MZ. However, it features several key upgrades to simplify installation and improve fitment in modern caravans:
1. Custom Mounting Plate - Designed for cleaner installs, with pre-drilled provisions for pump and main power wiring.
2. Detachable Pump Power Lead - Allows you to mount the unit first and connect wiring afterward, giving more flexibility and a neater finish.
3. Thicker Gasket Seal - Improved thermal insulation between the heater body and mounting surface helps reduce heat transfer to the floor.
For this mounting-plate design, use the attached BTR-2KW installation manual, marked Ver 1-20305, together with its preceding Installation Manual Update sheet. The update replaces steps 3 and 20 and adds wiring-routing instructions to step 9. Use the supplied mounting plate as the installation template. Hole saws and installation tools are available separately.
Route the exhaust outside the vehicle so fumes cannot collect underneath or enter the cabin, and keep the combustion-air intake away from the exhaust outlet. Exhaust leakage into the cabin presents a carbon monoxide hazard. After switching the heater off at the controller, leave its power connected until the 3-5 minute cool-down cycle finishes; interrupting this cycle can cause excessive smoke and carbon build-up.
When unboxing all the supplied items you'll find the exhaust pipe is packed (hiding) inside the larger ducting.
