The Slider Catch is used to lock the main rafter and arm in position when setting up the awning. They are sold as a pair (one for each arm).
It is a commonly used caravan spare part for repairs to Dometic awnings. The spare part diagram shows its location.
To replace a catch, extend the awning first. Older riveted catches require the two retaining pop rivets to be drilled out from inside the main arm with a 1/8-inch drill bit. For snap-together catches, use a small flat-bladed screwdriver in the seam to prise off the backing piece.
Insert the new catch through the main-arm opening from the front, locate the backing piece on the lower ledge, and position the spring between the catch and main arm. Snap the backing piece onto the front, keeping the spring in place. The attached replacement instructions illustrate both removal styles and the spring position.
