The Thetford S260CS Separation Toilet is a purpose-built replacement for the Thetford C250 and C260 series cassette toilets, offering a waterless and low-maintenance sanitation solution for caravans and motorhomes. Designed to improve hygiene and reduce odours, it features a specially shaped bowl that directs liquid and solid waste into separate holding tanks. This waste separation reduces the need for chemicals and prevents odour caused by mixing, making it an ideal option for off-grid or long-term travellers.
The S260CS is engineered for easy installation, providing a direct 1-to-1 replacement for existing C250 or C260 models. The urine tank is easily accessible and can be removed for emptying without disturbing the solids bin, allowing for a more convenient waste management process. Both tanks are manufactured from recycled plastic, supporting more sustainable travel practices.
An optional active ventilation system is available to enhance performance, using a fan and charcoal filter to extract air from the waste compartment and vent it outside the vehicle. Additional features include an ergonomically optimised bowl for comfort, a visual blade to cover solid waste, and a leak-free closing mechanism.
Separation toilet consumables are available to support regular use, including odour control solutions, waste bags, and surface cleaning sprays. Whether for new installations or retrofitting an existing Thetford setup, the S260CS provides a smart, water-saving alternative designed for modern caravanning needs.
Before travelling, empty the urine tank or ensure it is no more than three-quarters full. A fuller tank can leak through the venting system while the vehicle is moving.
Separation toilets keep liquid and solid waste apart, so each section is emptied separately.
Urine waste should be emptied into a regular toilet, RV dump point, or approved toilet waste facility.
Solid waste is collected in a liner bag. Once sealed properly, it can generally be disposed of with general waste, where local rules allow. This is similar to other sealed hygiene waste such as nappies, incontinence products, sanitary waste or dog waste bags.
Do not place waste bags in drop toilets, pit toilets, dump points, recycling, green waste or compost bins.
When in doubt, check the local rules before disposal.
If the Thetford drying agent is unavailable, use a clean, dry, untreated carbon material such as natural sawdust, fine wood shavings, or untreated wood-fibre animal bedding. These are commonly available from pet stores, hardware stores and garden centres.
This helps absorb moisture, cover the solids and reduce odour between emptying. Avoid scented, clumping, treated or fertilised products.
