The signal meter will show the strongest signal direction to set your antenna at, before you scan for channels.
Install the signal finder either permanently inline between the antenna and TV or connect your antenna to the signal finder when required.
A signal finder will only operate correctly if it is attached to a good antenna system.
The items that can affect a low signal are the quality of the antenna, whether the amplifier is working, whether all connections and cables are in good condition and good quality, whether you are getting a direct signal, or whether the signal is being bounced off buildings or landforms.
It is surprising how often a cable is at fault where it looks to be in good condition.
