Description

The AL-KO Power Mover is a manually operated ratchet jockey wheel which allows a single person to manoeuvre a single-axle caravan or trailer once it has been uncoupled from the tow vehicle. Raising and lowering the heavy-duty lever drives the wheel, helping you position the caravan where access with a tow vehicle is difficult. It is also useful when hooking back up: move the coupling into position over the towball, then lower it.

The 245 mm solid rubber wheel has a dynamic capacity of 150 kg while moving and a static capacity of 350 kg while stationary. These ratings refer to the load supported by the jockey wheel, not the total weight of the caravan or trailer. The zinc-coated 48 mm diameter shaft has three clamping positions and 250 mm of winding travel, providing ground-to-clamping-position heights from 335 mm to 755 mm.

This unit includes the standard AL-KO clamp and traction lever handle. The extra-wide clamp is available as a related product for increased stability; the Power Mover's load limits still apply.

Before moving, secure the caravan or trailer with its park brake or wheel chocks, lower the Power Mover to the painted line on the telescopic tube, and set both spring-loaded pawls in the intended direction of travel before applying force to the lever. Moving with the shaft extended can damage the telescopic tube.

The double-pawl system resists rollback on a slight incline, but it is not a park brake. The mover can freewheel when an incline changes to a decline; use the caravan or trailer park brake to control this movement.

This is a basic manual mover rather than a precision positioning system, and there is some play within the ratchet mechanism.

Important - Jockey wheels are not designed to be used to manoeuvre in their extended position. The strength of the shaft is greatly reduced in the extended position and it is likely to bend or break during movement. The correct method is to lower as far as possible without preventing the wheel from pivoting before moving. Lowering the jockey wheel will make it safer and easier to manoeuvre.
