This straight gas adaptor connects a 5/16 inch SAE-flared copper pipe to a SMEV stove with a matching 1/4 inch female BSP cone/olive connection. The recessed inverted bevel at the BSP end seats against the mating cone or olive.
A matching flare nut (not included) secures the copper pipe to the SAE end. The SAE connection seals against the pipe's flare, while the SMEV cone/olive connection seals at the mating seat, not on the threads. Do not apply thread tape or thread sealant to either of these seat-sealing joints.
This fitting can also be used to join the copper pipe to a compatible female BSP appliance fitting that seals on the tapered BSP threads rather than on a cone or olive. Only in that thread-sealing application does the BSP end require gas-rated thread tape or a suitable gas thread sealant.
Always test for leaks after any gas fittings are worked on.
