The Breaksafe 6000XP Breakaway System activates the electric brake system and brake lights of your caravan or trailer if it is accidentally separated from the tow vehicle (e.g. breakaway). This model suits trailers with up to six electrically braked wheels.
The battery compartment is easily accessible for servicing, and the fully enclosed internal circuit board case provides better water resistance. The unit is water resistant, not waterproof, and must not be submerged.
The kit includes a 12V 9Ah sealed lead-acid battery, coil cable breakaway switch, mounting hardware and installation instructions.
The Breaksafe battery recharges while driving through an auxiliary line. Its internal charging circuit is a trickle charger, so a full recharge can take several hours. For external charging through the front terminals, use a suitable battery charger rated at no more than 4A. Some smart chargers require direct connection to the battery terminals rather than the front charging terminals.
Momentarily press the front test button to check the battery: green indicates normal charge and red indicates low charge requiring charging before use. The button also activates the trailer brakes and brake lights. Do not use the system as a parking brake or security device, as this will flatten the battery.
