Tools Required

• Power Drill
• 3/16” Drill Bit
• Phillips Screwdriver
• 11/32” Wrench or Socket
• Pencil or Marker

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

• Open the vent from inside the coach.
• Remove the garnish ring, crank handle, and screen frame. Keep these items for re-installation.

Step 2: Disengage Lift Operator

• Unscrew and remove the lift operator.
• If a retainer clip is present over the lift arm rivet, remove and discard it. Keep the screws for re-installation.

Step 3: Remove Old Lid

• Discard the old, broken lid. Note that hinge designs vary by manufacturer.

Step 4: Attach Universal Lid to Hinge

• Align the universal lid with the universal hinge as shown and pivot to engage.

Step 5: Position Lid and Hinge

• Place the lid and hinge over the vent, ensuring the inside of the lid or hinge is against the old roof vent hinge.
• Press the lid against the roof vent gasket and align the universal hinge parallel to the roof.
• Mark the 2 outer holes on each side of the roof vent for drilling. Use the middle hole if the outer hole closest to the hinge does not align.

Step 6: Drill Mounting Holes

• Use a 3/16” drill bit for drilling. It may be easier to mark and drill one side, then install screws loosely before marking and drilling the opposite side.
• If a vent cover is installed over the roof vent, attach the cover’s mount brackets over the Universal Hinge flanges. Seal any unused holes.

Step 7: Secure Hinge

• Install screws through the outside of the universal hinge. Use flat washers, lock washers, and nuts on the inside. Tighten securely.

Step 8: Attach Slide/Clip to Lift Arm

• Position the lift arm through the crank handle mounting bracket.
• Install the slide/clip to the lift arm. If replacing a Ventline “Ventadome” lid, the existing slide may be reused or replaced with the universal slide/clip if damaged.

Step 9: Engage Slide/Clip with T-bar

• From inside the coach, connect the slide/clip with the T-bar on the universal lid.
• Re-install the lift operator with the original screws.

Step 10: Re-install Interior Components

• Re-attach the screen frame, crank handle, and garnish ring using the original screws.
