Cowl Extension VBO 2 Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Product Overview
The Cowl Extension VBO 2 is designed for use with Truma boilers, specifically for part series 2 and 3 (part number 70131-00). It facilitates the extension of the boiler's cowl to accommodate wall thicknesses from 35 to 85 mm.
Installation Instructions
Preparation for Installation:
- The cowl extension is suitable for wall thicknesses ranging from 35 to 85 mm.
- Ensure that the boiler and cowl are compatible with the extension (part series 2 and 3).
Thread Cutting:
- Use the self-cutting screws (part 7) to cut threads M4 into the cowl. This is done by inserting and then removing the screws to create the threads for the threaded bolts (part 2).
Attaching the Cowl Extension:
- Apply a sealing compound (body sealing compound) between the joining surfaces of the cowl extension (part 3) and the cowl (part 1).
- Position the cowl extension onto the cowl.
- Secure the extension using 4 washers (part 4) and 4 nuts M4 (part 5), ensuring a tight and secure fit.
Condensation and Extension Tubes:
- Connect the condensation tube (part 8) to the extension tube using a flexible hose (part 6). This step is crucial for proper drainage and operation of the boiler.
Final Adjustments:
- If necessary, replace the self-cutting screws (part 7) with nuts M4 for a more secure fit.
- Adjust the cut-out section of the wall to be 4 mm x 176 mm (100 mm larger than the original size) to accommodate the cowl extension.
Boiler Installation:
- Proceed with the boiler installation as per the supplied installation instructions. Ensure that the boiler is correctly fitted and secured in place.
Important Notes
- Only use the specified self-cutting screws (part 7) for creating the threads. Do not substitute these with any other type.
- The sealing compound is crucial for preventing leaks and ensuring a watertight seal between the cowl and the extension. Ensure an even and adequate application.
- After installation, check all connections and seals for any signs of leakage or improper fit.
Troubleshooting
- Leakage at the Cowl Extension: Ensure that the sealing compound was adequately applied and that all nuts and washers are tightened securely.
- Improper Fit: Verify that the wall cut-out dimensions are correct and that the threads have been properly cut with the self-cutting screws.
