Dometic RUC 8408X Refrigerator Technical and Operational Guide
Safety Instructions
- Danger: Risk of fatal or serious injury if instructions are not followed.
- Warning: Risk of injury or damage to the device due to improper use, mechanical influences, excess voltage, unauthorized alterations, or use for unintended purposes.
- Caution: Risk of crushing, ensure fingers are clear of hinges. Only store food in original packaging or suitable containers. Ensure voltage compatibility and never pull the plug by the cable. The refrigerator is not suitable for storing caustic substances or solvents. Keep the drainage outlet clean and never transport the device horizontally.
Installation
Preparing for Installation
- Ensure a solid, level floor.
- The refrigerator must be easily accessible for service, easy to de-install and install, and securely positioned during motion.
- Install in a recess with dimensions: Height (A) 1657mm, Width (B) 550mm, Depth (C) 677mm (includes control knob 5mm). Recess dimensions: Height (H) 1647–1652mm, Width (W) 530–535mm, Depth (D) min. 611mm.
- Ensure proper ventilation for heat dissipation and protect from excessive heat to prevent poor performance and increased power consumption.
- Electrical installation must comply with national and local regulations.
Ventilation
- Install one air inlet and one outlet ventilation grille (LS300) ensuring they are not covered by vehicle parts or accessories.
- Fit an air deflection plate above the compressor to prevent heat accumulation.
Sealing
- Install the refrigerator in a sealed location to prevent dust and heat from entering the living space. Use non-flammable materials for draught-proof installation.
Drain Water Hose Installation
- Position the hole for the drain water hose to avoid kinking. Drill a hole through the floor at the rear of the refrigerator and install the hose, ensuring it drains outside the vehicle.
Securing the Refrigerator
- Use the built-in bushes for screwing the refrigerator into place. Ensure screws are tight to withstand increased loads while driving.
Electrical Connection
Connecting to 12 – 24 V
- Avoid voltage drops by keeping the connection cable short and uninterrupted. Disconnect from the battery before connecting to a quick charging device. The refrigerator has an electronic system to prevent reversed polarity and short circuiting. It automatically switches off if the voltage is insufficient.
Connecting to AC Mains
- Ensure safety by handling plugs and switches with dry hands and standing on a dry surface. If operating on a boat with an AC mains connection, install a residual current circuit breaker.
Operation
Starting the Refrigerator
- Clean the interior with a damp cloth before first use. The cooling performance can be affected by ambient temperature, the amount of food, and door opening frequency. Ensure the vehicle is level, especially when starting up.
User Modes
- Performance Mode: Optimized performance with temperature levels 1-5.
- Silent Mode: Limited compressor speed, low outer fan speed, temperature levels 1-3.
- Eco Mode: Fixed temperature level 3, defrost function disabled.
- Turbo Mode: High compressor and fan speed for rapid cooling, switches to performance mode after reaching -2°C or after 12 hours.
Maintenance
- Defrost the refrigerator when a frost layer of more than 3mm forms. Disconnect the power supply, empty the contents, and leave the doors open to defrost.
Troubleshooting
For troubleshooting steps, refer to the "Troubleshooting" section on page 46 of the manual. This includes instructions for acknowledging faults and resolving common issues.
