GSL Trailer Brake Controller (RBC-12-NG) - Technical and Operational Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Product Overview
The GSL RBC-12-NG represents the next generation of trailer brake controllers, utilizing advanced microprocessor technology to deliver a pre-set braking force. This device is specifically designed for both single and dual axle trailers operating on a negative earth (ground) system. Its compact and rugged design allows for straightforward installation, enhanced by the inclusion of a remote control for easy adjustment and monitoring of the braking system. The controller also features an override function for independent trailer braking, aiding in the prevention of swaying and snaking.
Installation Instructions
Wiring Connection Overview:
- Positive Voltage Feed: Connect to the battery positive terminal.
- Black Wire: Connect to the remote control unit.
- White Wire: Ground connection.
- Blue Wire: Connect to the trailer brake coils.
- Red Wire: Connect to the vehicle brake switch (cold side) or a source that provides pure DC when the vehicle brake lights are on. Note that activation is only through a positive feed.
Fuse Installation:
- A fuse must be installed (not supplied with the kit) on the black wire leading to the remote control.
- For the RBC-12-NG model, a 20A fuse is required. Ensure the fuse is placed as per the manual's instructions.
Remote Control Installation:
- The remote control can be installed up to 1 meter away from the brake controller.
- Installation on a standard blank switch plate involves drilling a 1 x 8.5mm hole, inserting the shaft of the dial, and securing it with the supplied nut. The knob should then be pressed on with firm, even pressure.
