Installation Guide for P/No. PMSHUNT

Safety and Installation Precautions

• Important: Read this guide thoroughly to prevent battery monitor malfunction or fire hazards.
• The shunt must be installed in a dry environment.
• Use mounting screws that are not countersunk.
• Warning: The shunt must be installed into the negative line only.
• The battery negative terminal should only have one cable, which is the one going to the shunt. Multiple cables can lead to incorrect display readings.
• Always connect the battery negative terminal to the ‘B-’ stud of the shunt. Connecting to the ‘S-’ stud will result in incorrect readings.
• Disconnect the battery negative cable first before installation and connect it last after installation is completed.

Mounting and Connection

• Battery Temperature Sensor (Optional): Attach to the service battery (B1).
• Assembly Sequence: Nut, spring washer, washer, and cable lug.
• Status LED Indicators:
  • GREEN: OK
  • RED ON: Over current >500Amp

Connection Diagrams

• Single Battery Setup: Connect the service battery negative to the shunt and run a cable from the shunt to the INTELLI-RV system positive (to load). Keep cables as short as possible.
• Dual Battery Setup: Similar to single battery setup, with the addition of a starter battery connection (optional). The INTELLI-RV system already measures the starter battery voltage.

Setup Instructions

• Via the App:
  1. Enter the setting menu.
  2. Select "Shunt" option and then "Active" to enable BM500 shunt.
  3. Confirm to complete setup.
• Via LCD:
  1. Press the ‘Light’ button until the setting code shows on the date time area.
  2. Use ‘PUMP’ and ‘LOAD’ buttons to navigate through the menu.
  3. To enter engineering mode, press and hold "Pump" and "Load" buttons, then follow on-screen instructions to set up the shunt.

• Cable Lengths and Extensions:
  • Supply cable (included): 0.5m
  • Extensions available: 2m, 4m, and 5m for various connections.
  • Keep the service battery and starter battery connections as indicated in the diagrams, with specific lengths for optimal performance.

Warranty Statement

• Coverage: Products are warranted against failures in material and workmanship for two years from the original purchase date, excluding ordinary wear and tear, abuse, alteration, or damage caused by the consumer.
• Claim Process: Deliver the product and original invoice to the place of purchase or a nominated location for warranty assessment.
• Rights: In case of a minor failure, repair or replacement will be at the discretion of BWI. For major failures, a replacement, refund, and compensation for any reasonably foreseeable loss or damage are entitled.
• Australian Consumer Law: This warranty is in addition to any rights or remedies the consumer may have under State or Federal legislation.
