Dometic 3 Way Absorption Refrigerators Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Overview
Dometic absorption refrigerators are designed for optimal performance in caravans, motor homes, and campers, even under high ambient temperatures. Proper installation and ventilation are crucial to ensure the best cooling performance and to avoid operational issues.
Installation Guidelines
- Gas Supply Connection: Must be performed by an authorized gas fitter in accordance with Australian Gas Authority regulations.
- Location: Ensure the refrigerator's ventilation vents are not obstructed by the vehicle door when open.
- Surface: Install the refrigerator on a hard, flat, level surface.
- Sealing: The refrigerator recess must be sealed from the living area to prevent gas leaks or exhaust gases from entering.
- Spacing: Minimize the space between the refrigerator cabinet and surrounding furniture to prevent warm air from the cooling unit from affecting performance. If possible, fill any voids with glass insulation wool around the sides and top of the refrigerator cabinet.
- Ventilation: Follow these key points for any ventilation method:
- The bottom of the lower vent must be at the floor level. If the lower vent is above the floor, a 40mm hole through the floor is required for potential gas leak escape.
- The top vent must be mounted above the refrigerator cooling unit, ensuring all air moves through the cooling unit. In some cases, due to vehicle design, the top vent may not be completely above the cabinet but should be for optimal performance.
- Install a metal warm air deflector plate to direct warm air from the cooling unit outside via the top vent, ensuring it does not interfere with any wiring.
