Resources Required
- 1 to 3 people
- Cordless or electric drill/screw gun
- Silicone sealant or butyl tape
- Appropriate drive bits, including ⅜” and ½”
- Silicone lubricant
- #10 x ¾” self-tapping screws
- ¼” - 20 x ½” hex head screws
- ¼” x 2 ½” lag screws
Installation
- Installing the Awning Rail: Ensure the awning rail is level and parallel with the floor line. Secure with #10 x ¾” screws.
- Assembling the Awning: Connect the support arm assemblies to the roll tube assembly, ensuring the cam lock is on the left end.
- Installing Bottom Mounting Brackets: Mark the position of the support arm assemblies on the awning rail and install the bottom brackets using ¼” x 2 ½” lag screws.
- Mounting the Awning: Adjust the support arm assembly to align with the awning rail and bottom mounting bracket. Slide the polycord into the awning rail channel.
- Securing the Fabric: Roll the awning in and out several times to square the fabric on the roll tube. Secure the fabric in the awning rail using a #6 x ½” hex head self-tapping screw on both ends.
- Installing the Stop Bolt: Ensure the awning is completely retracted and adjust support arm assemblies as necessary.
Operation
- Extending the Awning: Release travel locks, loosen rafter arm locking knobs, flip the cam lock to the roll-out position, and pull the awning outward.
- Retracting the Awning: Ensure the awning is not in carport mode, lower the outer arms, and flip the cam lock to the roll-in position. Secure travel locks after retraction.
Troubleshooting
- Awning will not extend/retract: Check cam lock position, ensure travel locks and rafter arm locking knobs are disengaged, and verify spring tension is engaged.
- Fabric is loose or sags: Ensure fabric is square on the unit and secured to the awning rail. Check for damaged roll tube or arms.
Maintenance
Clean vinyl or woven acrylic fabric periodically with a mixture of ¼ cup of dish soap and five gallons of warm water. Apply the mixture, retract the awning for five minutes, then extend and hose off with fresh water. Allow to dry before retracting.
