CAMEC Door Lock Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff

Pre-Installation Checks

Before starting the installation process of a CAMEC door lock, ensure the following:

• Door and Frame Alignment

  The frame and doors must be parallel and straight without any bows. The clearance between the main door, security door, and trim frame should be even. This can be verified by running a finger along the clearance between the door and frame.

• Door Hinge Orientation

  Determine if the door is Left Hand Hinged or Right Hand Hinged. The lock must correspond to the door orientation. Inner housings are marked with R/H for Right Hand or L/H for Left Hand.

• Remote Latches

  Keep remote latches in place to prevent the rack from falling.

Lock Removal Process

• Identify the door hinge orientation (Left or Right).
• Familiarize yourself with the parts of the lock.
• To separate the front door from the security door, rest the wire hook on the hook catch and remove the three retaining screws. The middle screw is located behind the Locking Snib.
• Push in the Safety Button and push down the Locking Snib to reveal the middle screw for removal.
• Remove the inner and outer assemblies.

Installation Instructions

• Preparation

  Use new parts only. Avoid mixing old parts with new ones.

• Inner Assembly Installation

  Insert the inner assembly, ensuring the Latch Bolt gear fits into the aluminium rack.

• Outer Assembly Alignment

  Align and fit the outer assembly to the inner assembly, ensuring the Safety Button is pushed in and the Locking Snib is down.

• Screwing

  Install the top and bottom screws to 0.9 Nm. Do not overtighten the middle screw.

• Key Barrel Installation

  • Locate the key barrel recess in the outer housing assembly.
  • Align the locating notches on the barrel with the corresponding slots in the barrel recess.
  • Insert the spring retainer on the right side of the barrel first.
  • Slide the key barrel in, ensuring the retainer fits in the recess at the back of the lock.
  • Verify that the key operates correctly.

Installing Remote Latches

• Fit the inside Remote Latch assembly gear into the rack as shown in the detail figure.
• Carefully fit the Outside Remote Latch assembly, paying attention to the correct orientation.
• Use a Phillips screwdriver to fit 2 screws, hand-tightening only.
• Repeat the procedure for the other Remote Latch.

Additional Tips

• Ensure the Locking Snib can move freely in both directions. If the handle is too stiff, loosen the middle screw by 1% turn.
• Always verify the operation of the lock and key mechanism after installation to ensure proper functionality.
