CAMEC Slimline Slider Window Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Overview
This document provides detailed fitting and installation instructions for the CAMEC Slimline Slider Window. It is intended to assist customer service and technical staff in guiding customers through installation procedures, troubleshooting, and providing technical support.
Pre-Installation Instructions
- Cut-Out Dimensions: Ensure all cut-outs are 6 mm +/- 1 mm larger than the nominal sizes for all windows. The cut-outs must be square and parallel within 1-2 mm.
- Surface Preparation: The outside wall surface must be clean before installation. For aluminium cladded walls, seams should be filled with silicone and crushed.
Example for Standard Fitting of Clamp Ring:
For a 565 x 1175 Camec 4RC Side Sliding Window, the cut-out size should be 570 to 572 mm High x 1180 to 1182 mm Wide, with 68 mm radiuses cut in each corner.
Installation Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Clamp Ring
- Position the clamp ring over the window with the join at the top. Drill a 2.5mm hole on both sides of the clamp ring join and temporarily install 2 anchor screws using 6G PAN Phillips self-tapping screws with a maximum length of ½”.
Step 2: Anchoring the Bottom
- Anchor the clamp ring at the bottom of the window in the same manner by drilling into the mainframe and anchoring with 2 screws. Take care to only drill through the first section of the extrusion and not completely through.
Step 3: Preparing the Window and Wall
- Remove temporary anchoring screws and drill the rest of the holes into the mainframe.
- Clean the window of aluminium swarf with compressed air and wipe the main frame flange with a dry cloth to remove dust.
- Apply sealing compound to the flange. Options include Butyl Mastic, double-sided or one-sided foam tape, Silicone Sealant, or a suitable combination.
Step 4: Installing the Window
- Apply sealing compound (e.g., foam tape) all around the flange, starting from the bottom of the window. Ensure a continuous seal around the four radius corners.
- Position the window in the opening from the outside of the van, making sure it is centralized in the cutout. Use spacers if necessary.
- Gently push the top of the window into position in the opening. Apply silicone to the tape for additional sealing.
Step 5: Securing the Clamp Ring
- One person should hold the window from the outside. Attach the clamp ring screw on either side of the join at the top of the window.
- Fasten 2 bottom screws and position the clamp ring around the window. Install the rest of the screws.
- If using silicone bedding, do not fully tighten the clamp ring until the silicone has cured to avoid leaks.
Step 6: Finishing Touches
- Remove excess silicone or any other sealing compound as part of the general cleanup.
Post-Installation
Ensure the installation is complete and the window operates smoothly. The finished product should be checked for any gaps or potential leaks.
