Our Comments
CANBUS Connection Issues: We are aware some customers with certain vehicles including VW and RAM are loosing connection. The Ram 1500 and other some additional vehicle make use the vehicles power wiring for sending of CANBUS signals to monitor vehicle peripherals.
The signals from the CANBUS are known to interfere with the operation of the camera. This why the connection issue only appears intermittently when vehicles engine is running.
There are are two known solutions to this issue, one is running a dedicated 12 volt line directly from the house batteries in your caravan, whilst the other is to install a noise filter on the wire powering the camera.
A device such as the Gator CANBUS Filter is an ideal solution for under $20 and can be purchased online (excluding CaravansPlus), specialty auto electrician stores or even Supercheap Auto.
