Sharkfin Camera Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Package Contents Verification
Before beginning the installation, ensure all items in the package match those listed in the 'What's in the Box' section on the packaging box.
Pre-Installation Instructions
Safety Precautions
Refer to the online user manual for important safety-related instructions.
Tools Required
Prepare a #2 Phillips head screwdriver, sealant, insulation tape, pencil, and a 5/8” hole saw (if drilling a new hole is necessary).
Installation Steps
Mounting Bracket Installation
Note: Skip this step if the RV is pre-installed with a bracket for camera installation.
Location Selection
Choose a mounting location ensuring no obstacle blocks the camera view. Recommended locations are:
- Rear Camera Position: Top center on the rear of the RV, as high as practicable (2” below the red marker light if available).
- Doorway Camera Position: Above the top of the door.
Marking and Drilling
Use the gasket as a template to mark the outline on the chosen location. Drill a 5/8” center hole.
Routing Cable
Route the female connector of the camera power cable through the hole, leaving 2 inches of slack.
Power Connection
Connect the bare ends of the camera power cable to the nearest 12V / 24V power supply. For rear cameras, use the same power line from the nearest marker light. For doorway cameras, use the power line from the RV porch light or nearest light source. Ensure the fuse on the connected power line provides an additional 1A fusing current for the camera. Isolate all bare ends with insulation tape.
Securing Gasket and Bracket
Fix the gasket and bracket with four #6x3/4" flat self-tapping screws. Apply sealant around the gasket for uneven surfaces.
Camera Mounting
Adjusting Camera Angle
Rotate the camera upwards and downwards (0~50°) to achieve the desired view angle. For rear positions, aim to see the bottom edge of your vehicle and the road conditions behind. For doorway positions, aim to see the bottom edge of the door.
Antenna Installation
Mount the antenna onto the camera securely, keeping it straight. Torque should not exceed 8 In-lbs.
Connecting Power Cable
Remove the cover on the bracket housing if present. Connect the female connector of the camera power cable to the male connector on the back of the camera. Tuck any redundant cables inside the bracket housing.
Securing Camera
Attach the camera to the bracket with four #4x1/4" self-tapping screws.
Additional Information
Camera and Monitor Pairing: If the camera comes bundled with a Furrion Vision S monitor, it is paired by default. Connect it to the female connector on the Y type power cable of the monitor and check the pairing status before installation. For unbundled cameras or pairing issues, refer to the Quick Start Guide for the monitor or the online user manual for pairing procedures.
Troubleshooting and Support
For detailed functional explanations and further support, refer to the complete user manual available online.
Always seek professional assistance if unsure about the installation and wiring operations.
Important Notes
Before any installation and wiring operation, remove the key from the ignition and isolate the 12V / 24V power source.
Ensure proper cable isolation for all bare ends to prevent short circuits.
The installation guide illustrations and recommendations are for reference only. Furrion Vision S products can be mounted on various types of long vehicles, including trailers and Class A/B/C motorhomes.
