EuroVision 2 Windows & Slimline Blinds Installation Guide for Customer Service and Technical Staff
Installation Overview
The EuroVision 2 Windows and accompanying Slimline Blinds are designed for installation in caravans and motor homes. This guide provides detailed instructions for installation, ensuring a secure and functional setup.
Step 1: Preparing the Cut Hole
- Placement: Ensure the window placement does not conflict with internal structures like cabinets or wall struts.
- Dimensions: Maintain a minimum clearance of 2 inches above and below and 1 inch on each side of the proposed window area.
- Cutting the Hole:
- Create a cardboard template using the inner window frame as a pattern.
- Test fit the template over the intended window area to check for fit.
- Mark the cut line on the wall panel using a felt pen.
- Cut the wall panel, keeping the cut line as close to the window size as possible. Typically, add 3mm to each dimension of the window for the cut hole (e.g., for a 300 x 500mm window, cut 303 x 503mm). The corner radius should be 70mm.
- Note any special requirements such as a notch for a weld at the top of the window frame.
Step 2: Securing the Spacer Frame
- Materials: Use hardwood or metal tubing for the spacer frame.
- Installation:
- Mount the spacer frame inside the van using Very High Bond (VHB) bonding tape or a high-strength polyurethane adhesive.
- Ensure the frame is clamped to the sheet metal to provide a flat surface for the window installation.
Step 3: Installing the Window
- Fitting the Window:
- Place the window assembly into the cut hole and secure temporarily with wide masking tape.
- From inside, fit the inner frame ring ensuring it is flush against the wall and check that it accommodates the wall thickness.
- Attach using the appropriate screws (M4 x 14 or M4 x 20 depending on wall thickness). Do not use adhesive or silicone.
- Use a magnetic hand screwdriver to avoid over-tightening. Apply a metal-based anti-seize lubricant on the screws.
Step 4: Mounting the Blind and Screen Assembly
- Orientation: Decide on the orientation of the blind (top or bottom) based on preference for light control or privacy.
- Installation:
- Open the blind covers and position the blind/screen assembly over the hooks on the inner frame.
- Center the blind on the window and secure with screws in each corner of the grey plastic frame.
- Ensure the covers snap closed properly.
Step 5: Testing Operation
- Functionality Check: Test the smooth operation of the window and blind.
- Feedback: Document the installation process with photos and share feedback on the installation.
