MAXXFAN® Deluxe Customer Service and Technical Support Guide
Installation Overview
Roof Opening Requirements
- KI Models: Require a standard RV roof opening of 355mm x 355mm.
- KI40 Models: Require a roof opening of 400mm x 400mm.
Roof Area and Thickness
- Ensure a clear roof area of at least 203mm to the rear for exhaust/intake louvers.
- Designed for roof thickness from 25mm to a maximum of 90mm. For roofs thinner than 25mm, build additional thickness using suitable materials. Longer Garnish Rings are available for thicker roofs.
Electrical Requirements
Designed for a nominal 12V DC system with a minimum circuit capacity of 5 amps. Use the proper gauge stranded wire for connections.
Installation Steps
- Preparing the Roof Opening:
- Remove old vent and sealant around the opening.
- Place the Roof Receiving Flange in the opening, trace around it, and ensure it's centered.
- Applying Sealant:
- Use compatible caulking/sealant (avoid solvents like Xylene, Toluene, etc., and Polysulfide type sealants). Silicone Sealants like G.E. Silicone II are recommended.
- Electrical Connection:
- Connect the vehicle’s 12V power to the MAXXFAN power wires, ensuring correct polarity.
- Mounting the MAXXFAN:
- Confirm metal mounting clips are in place. Lower the MAXXFAN onto the Roof Receiving Flange, ensuring wires are not entangled.
- Securing the MAXXFAN:
- Use the provided 19mm #10 stainless steel screws to fasten the MAXXFAN to the Roof Receiving Flange. Apply additional sealant over screw heads and flange edges.
- Trimming the Garnish Ring:
- Measure the distance from the ceiling surface to the Control Plate at each corner, add 6mm to 12.5mm to each measurement, mark, and trim the Garnish Ring accordingly.
- Finalizing Installation:
- Place excess wiring inside the roof opening, slide the Garnish Ring into position, and secure with provided screws.
Operating Instructions
Manual Models
- Vent Lid Operation: Pull the knob to unlock before turning. Rotate clockwise to close and counter-clockwise to open. Push in to lock.
Automatic Models
- Vent Lid Operation: Rotate the knob without pushing or pulling. Clockwise to close, counter-clockwise to open.
Keypad Controls
- ON/OFF: Starts or stops the fan. In automatic models, also opens/closes the lid.
- IN/OUT: Reverses fan direction. Pauses before changing direction.
- AUTO: Engages Auto Mode, allowing the thermostat to control the fan based on set temperature.
- Arrow Keys: Adjust thermostat temperature or fan speed. Pressing both simultaneously on automatic lift models opens/closes the lid.
Remote Control (7000KI, 7500KI, 7000KI40, 7500KI40 Models)
Controls include fan on/off, vent lid position, air exhaust/intake direction, auto mode, thermostat set temperature, and fan speed adjustment.
Maintenance and Warranty
- Cleaning: Use only mild soap and water. Avoid petroleum-based or solvent-based cleaners.
- 1-Year Limited Warranty: Covers manufacturing defects for 1 year from the purchase date. Does not cover labor, freight costs, or damages from misuse or improper installation.
Troubleshooting
- No Power/Operation: Check 12V DC connections and ensure the circuit can supply a minimum of 5 amps. Reset the self-resetting fuse by removing and re-applying power.
- Improper Vent Operation: Ensure the knob is correctly operated for manual models and check remote control batteries for automatic models.
