Installation Overview:
Roof Opening and Preparation:
- Standard Roof Opening: 355mm x 355mm.
- Roof Thickness: Minimum 50mm, maximum 110mm. Use wood or suitable material to build additional thickness if less than 50mm.
- Electrical Requirements: 12 Volt DC system, minimum 5 amps circuit. Use proper gauge stranded wire for connections.
Installation Steps:
- Remove Existing Vent (if applicable): Ensure all old sealant is removed from around the roof opening.
- Apply Sealant: Use BUTYL tape or equivalent caulking on the underside of the flange, covering screw holes.
- Electrical Connection: Use insulated 16 gauge electrical connectors provided to connect the vehicle’s 12V power to the MAXXFAN power wires. Black wire (+) to vehicle's 12V (+) positive supply.
- Positioning and Securing: Place MAXXFAN into the opening, ensuring the lid hinge faces the front of the vehicle. Secure with provided screws without overtightening.
- Sealant Application: Apply Dicor self-leveling lap sealant or similar over every exposed screw head and along the flange's outside edge.
Finalizing Installation:
- Garnish Trim Ring Adjustment: Measure the distance from the ceiling surface to the control plate, add 6mm to 12.5mm to this measurement for the correct Garnish Ring length. Trim and install.
- Power Reconnection: Reconnect vehicle power. A beeping sound indicates a successful power connection. For models 4500KI and 4540KI, the vent cover will automatically close.
Operating Instructions:
Manual Models:
- Vent Lid Operation: Pull to unlock, rotate clockwise to close, counter-clockwise to open. Push to lock.
Automatic Models:
- Vent Lid Operation: Rotate knob without pushing or pulling. Clockwise to close, counter-clockwise to open.
Keypad Controls:
- ON/OFF: Starts or stops the fan. Controls lid in automatic models.
- IN/OUT: Reverses fan direction. Pause before changing direction.
- AUTO: Engages Auto Mode, controlled by thermostat settings.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use (+) and (-) keys to set desired temperature.
- Fan Speed: Adjust with (+) and (-) keys. Beeps indicate max or min speed.
Remote Control (4500KI, 4540KI):
- Controls include ON/OFF, VENT OPN/CLS, AIR IN/OUT, AUTO ON/OFF, TEMP +/-, and FAN SPEED +/-.
- Low Battery Indicator: Displayed on the remote's screen.
Troubleshooting:
- No Power/Operation: Check electrical connections and ensure 12V power is available. Reset by disconnecting and reconnecting power.
- Remote Control Issues: Ensure batteries are charged and aim directly at the ceiling unit.
Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Use mild soap and water only. Avoid caustic or solvent-based cleaners.
- Chemicals to Avoid: Ketones, Esters, Acetone, Halogenated Hydrocarbons, Amines, Aromatic Hydrocarbons.
Warranty:
- 1 Year Limited Warranty: Covers manufacturing defects. Does not include damage from misuse, improper installation, or accidental/incidental damages.
Additional Features:
- FANMATE®: Offers rain protection with less than 5% airflow restriction. Available in white, black, and smoke.
