CAMEC Main Door Catch-Pin and Outer Trim Parts Kit Installation Guide
Kit Components:
- Catch-Pin (6752 x 2, 6751 x 2)
- M4-016752 Screws (x 7)
- Hook Catch (014390)
- Centre Catch-Pin (039233, 014389)
- Spacer (039322) - for narrow frame doors only
- Outer Trim (039273)
Installation Instructions:
Preparation:
Mark the positions of the existing catch-pins with a pencil before removal. This is crucial as they are adjustable and need to be replaced accurately.
Catch-Pin Replacement:
Ensure to replace the remote catch-pins like-for-like. The kit includes different catch-pins for doors with narrow (31mm) and wide (65mm) frames.
Main Catch-Pin and Outer Trim Removal:
Remove the main catch-pin and the Outer Trim. If the Outer Trim has two mounting holes and is damaged, it cannot be reused. Follow the drilling instructions below for adding an extra mounting hole for the new Outer Trim.
Outer Trim and Spacer Installation:
Install the new Outer Trim and Spacer. Note: The Spacer is only used with doors that have a narrow frame.
Catch-Pin Alignment:
Ensure the catch-pins are aligned with the center of the security door latches. Incorrect adjustment will prevent the security door latches from disengaging from the catch-pins.
Drilling Instructions for Outer Lock Trim Upgrade:
Note: These steps should only be performed by Authorized Service Personnel.
- Cover the drilling area with masking tape.
- Extend the slot's sides with a pencil, approximately 20mm downwards.
- Draw a perpendicular line to the slot at its bottom edge.
- Measure 6mm down from this line and draw another perpendicular line.
- Measure 14mm from the line intersection to mark the lock centerline.
- Drill a 3mm pilot hole at the mark to half the panel's thickness. Do not drill through the panel.
- Use a 9mm drill bit to enlarge the pilot hole to the same depth. Avoid drilling through the panel.
- Repeat steps 1-7 on the opposite side of the door.
- After drilling, remove the masking tape and fit the new Outer Lock Trim. Be careful not to overtighten the bottom screw.
Troubleshooting:
- Security Door Latch Not Disengaging: Check the alignment of the catch-pins with the center of the security door latches. Misalignment will prevent proper disengagement.
- Outer Trim Installation Issues: If the Outer Trim does not fit due to the door frame's condition or if there are issues with the mounting holes, ensure that the drilling instructions have been followed accurately. For damaged frames, additional modifications may be required.
