Product Overview

The Aussie Traveller 12 Volt Drop Down Steps are designed for easy access into a variety of Recreational Vehicles (RVs) such as Caravans, Campers, Motorhomes, and Emergency Vehicles. These steps come in both single and double configurations and are operated by a 12-volt switch, providing a safe and convenient entry point by reducing the entrance step height.

Installation Requirements

Refer to ADR58 / EN 1645-1 for correct installation guidelines. Installation can vary based on vehicle type and may involve mounting through the vehicle bottom, in rails incorporated in the chassis, or in a special construction welded or bolted to the chassis.

Installation Instructions

  1. Extend the step by connecting 12V DC to the step motor. Temporarily connect the Blue wire to motor positive and the Red wire to motor negative. Remove wires once fully extended.
  2. Drill 4 holes of 9mm diameter for mounting. The step will protrude 40mm from the frame when retracted.
  3. Position the step correctly, install and tighten the bolts, washers, and nuts.
  4. Check operation by retracting the step. Temporarily connect the Blue wire to motor negative and the Red wire to motor positive.

Switch Installation

  1. Drill a 48mm diameter hole for the switch.
  2. Mount the cover plate with 4 × 2.9×9.5mm screws.
  3. Run a 2×2.5mm2 electrical cable from the battery to the switch, including a 20 Amp fuse in the positive line.
  4. Connect motor wires to the in/out switch using the provided flat connectors.

Operating Instructions

Operate the step using the in/out switch. Ensure the vehicle is stationary and secure before use. Never step onto the footboards if the step is in operation, not fully extended, or retracted.

Maintenance

Regularly clean the step, avoiding harsh chemicals or brushes. In case of motor or electrical failure, manually retract the step by loosening and removing the indicated bolt, then replace and tighten it after retraction.

Warranty claims require the original invoice, product and vehicle details, description of damage or repair needed, photos, and appropriate documentation.
